Shop Around The World
Shop Around the World focuses on promoting and celebrating Portland's ethnic and minority owned businesses. The program hosts a series of tents at the Woodford's Corner Farmers Market designed to highlight the array of ethnic grocers in the Woodford's Corner neighborhood and introduce community members to the stories, people and products behind local, minority owned businesses they may not yet be familiar with.
Through the initiative, participating business owners are provided with a unique platform to share their stories, recipes, and products with the community in order to encourage more shoppers to visit and purchase goods from their stores.
Benefits for Participating Grocers:
-
Promotion and Exposure
Participating businesses will be prominently featured at a spotlight tent at the Woodfords Corner Farmers Market, drawing increased foot traffic and visibility to the business.
-
Financial Support
The City will purchase up to $100 worth of products from participating businesses to offer as samples, enticing market-goers to visit their store.
-
Operational Convenience
A community leader from the City of Portland’s Natural Helpers program will help design and manage the booth at the market, allowing business owners to focus on their business without taking time off work.
If you are interested in being a part of this initiative, whether as a spotlighted small business, neighborhood looking to participate, or farmers market with space to spotlight a local business
The City of Portland is committed to creating pathways toward economic opportunity and we are pleased to provide this opportunity at no cost for local, minority-owned businesses.
