Portland Welcomes Asylum Seekers

The asylum seekers at the expo are soon to be in a period of transition. We encourage everyone to support local organizations and efforts that continuously support this work. You may consider donating to the Community Plus Fund.

There have been many questions regarding future housing plans for the individuals at the expo. The Greater Portland Council of Governments, CIEE and several community based organizations and coalitions, including the Maine Immigrant Rights Coalition, have established a system for matching newly arrived asylum seekers with host families.
