We Speak Portland: English Classes
Learning English is one of the first new challenges that new community members are faced with upon their arrival to Portland. Inspired by the project We Speak NYC, the City of Portland Office of Economic Opportunity and the ESOL providers in the city have created these contextualized videos for English language learners that are designed to help new Portland residents learn English while also learning about daily aspects of life here in Portland.
Module 1: Parking tickets
Parking in Portland is everywhere—but there are various ways to pay and not all parking spots have a parking meter. Learn what to look for when parking and how to pay a parking ticket if you get one.
Module 2: Getting a boot on your car
If you park somewhere that is not allowed on multiple occasions, then your car could be booted. What does it mean for a car to be booted and how do you fix it? This video explains it all.
Module 3: Having your car towed
What if you come back to where you parked your car and it is no longer there? It is likely because your car was towed, which is done by the city for a few reasons.
